Tradition walks hand-in-glove with technology at this Masquespacio-designed Greek restaurant in Valencia…
Rising to the challenge of respecting the brand’s minimalist Greek design vocabulary whilst turning it around to offer something new to the gourmands of Valencia, the designers at Studio Masquespacio go beyond the signature Santorini hues of powder blue and white and apply beauteous cement-like finishes typical of Greece to carve out this niche ambience. The linearity and monotony of the oblong floor plan are ingeniously broken by crafting pockets of interest as the two hues – blue and white are strategically played upon.
Organic forms highlight the walls and carve into seats, presenting glimpses of Greek architectural nuances as a series of 3D-printed columns painted in blue, symbolic of a state of deterioration and neglect, stand out completing the vibe.
Ushering in a contemporary atmosphere that reflects a youthful mindset, LED tubes are added to the columns, making them a present-day element produced with 21st-century technology. Creatively assembled wooden stools, custom-designed to don a seemingly roughly hewn look, make for easy and flexible seating. Also, the order bar is situated in the middle of the space with the aim to recreate a bustling environment akin to ordering your Souvlaki from a mobile kiosk in the middle of a Greek market!
Highly stylised for Instagram-able sleuths, the restaurant stands apart for its trendy Greek sentiment and youthful aura.
