The Comma Collective Reframes the Villa for Mumbai’s Vertical Landscape

A 50-foot-long balcony-verandah, an abstracted pitched roof and a sequence of individually articulated spaces allow this Mumbai apartment to recover the generosity of a villa, translating its spatial privileges into the fixed envelope of a high-rise apartment. The brief came from a joint household of two couples and a child, rooted in the family’s desire to recreate the openness and informality they remembered from living in a terrace flat in early-2000s Bombay.
