Alkove-Design crafts a Pune apartment through filtered light, layered transitions and material warmth.
Conceived as a secondary residence for a Singapore-based family, the apartment responds to the need for a slower and more grounded living environment within Pune’s urban setting.
The planning favours an open cohesive environment with the living, dining and kitchen spaces being visually interconnected within the compact footprint. A large shoji-like wooden partition introduces definition without severing spatial flow, filtering light and views through a rhythmic grid of timber and textured glass.
Highlighted by abundant natural light and ventilation, the interiors prioritise visual calm and functional clarity, where a tactile, muted material palette reduces sensory noise. Primal oak, limewashed surfaces, silver-grey stucco and tranquil neutral tones establish a soft spatial backdrop, while measured accents of green, rust and ochre introduce warmth across individual rooms. Fluted surfaces, recessed niches and layered textures animate changing daylight conditions through the day, lending depth without visual excess.
Bedrooms continue the soft design vocabulary through low furniture profiles, integrated storage and muted palettes that foreground natural light and ventilation. Large windows, sheer drapery and indoor greens soften the apartment’s urban setting while maintaining a strong sense of openness.
The home builds its identity through transitions, filtered thresholds and carefully moderated detailing, shaping an interior language that remains calm, uncluttered, tactile and quietly timeless while supporting periodic inhabitation and ease of maintenance.
