When a Side Table Becomes Micro-Architecture

A sculptural side table turns wood waste and digital printing into micro-architecture. AEVA transforms a side table into a focal point. Inspired by Oscar Niemeyer’s architecture, its column-like form uses internal arcades to create a light, open structure. Each piece is 3D-printed from econitWood™, a patented, non-toxic composite of regional sawdust and wood shavings bound with magnesium and salt water. Additive printing enables forms impossible through conventional woodworking while producing no offcuts. Its raw, porous inner surfaces contrast with sanded outer faces, while an intentionally incomplete colour spray highlights the meandering printed texture.
