This week we bring you an interesting bouquet of stories centered around materiality and colour.

While we seem to be offering you plenty of residential design, particularly luxury lifestyle, of late, we are happy to say that despite neutral being the underlining factor of the majority of interiors, the way the designers play with elements of colour, texture and accents is what makes these homes stand out. Another key aspect that defines them is the warmth – although innately luxurious, these abodes are inviting and intimate, especially acknowledging the fact that residential is the most subjective and challenging typology. This issue has homes by OHA Studio and the cover story – tHE gRID Architects.

Interestingly, the play of colour and material is amazingly orchestrated in Studio Zhu-Pei’s design of the Jingdezhen Imperial Kiln Museum in China, as the arched recycled old kiln bricks are mixed with new bricks, evoking active and tangible memories, the design proof of how ancient techniques can be reinterpreted and reread in a contemporary key.

Just as interesting and fun is Ippolito Fleitz Group’s design of the Wörwag headquarters, where the paint company’s shade card constitutes the ceiling of the entire office! Do check it out.
