And this is translating to a renewed acceptance of our cultural heritage. Adaptive reuse or repurposing of buildings is touted to make a big leap in the near future. World over, we tend to see more and more examples and whilst this will mark a new milestone in the architectural trajectory, one has to wait and watch to witness the next curve in the history in the making.

This week, we bring you two such projects – while MVRDV transforms a 100-metres tall, old mixed-use tower into a vibrant and colourful skyscraper setting an important precedent in China, Mesarch Studio Architecture + Interior Design repurposes an old boutique store into a light and airy office space across 13 floors in the historical Noho neighbourhood of Manhattan.
