The classic Karat RS, a clay roof tile whose history goes back to 1966, has its previous details worked out, all design and formal details analysed, contemporary functions added and brand-typical features made visible.
The linear, sleek design language is now reflected in all functional elements. However, the tile is truly innovative above all in terms of its functionality: With a view to future extreme weather conditions, it has been given a deep, all-round triple fold to keep driving rain away from the sub-roof even at a roof pitch of seven degrees. The distinctively folded 4-tile corner offers a high level of storm resistance while a new, elegantly integrated hold-down system with hooks additionally increases wind suction resistance. Improved ribbing on the underside makes the tile hail-resistant up to a grain size of 4 cm and safe to walk on. To optimise handling during laying, stacking locks have also been added to securely anchor the tile packs. The tile itself is still made of clay.It wins the Best of the Best Red Dot Award 2024
