1405 Design Studio uses Indian craft and Art Deco order to merge two adjoining Chennai apartments into a multigenerational home. This 4000-square-foot multigenerational home is designed for a couple whose lives span New York and Mumbai. The design addresses the practical and emotional challenge of accommodating different family rhythms, histories and cultural references within a single domestic setting.The entrance pivot screen, finished with bamboo weave on one side and Art Deco veneer on the other, introduces the home's layered references.
