The modern workplace is no longer a rigid grid of desks and cubicles—it is a fluid, ever-adapting environment that mirrors the needs of its users.
At ADDITIVE’s new headquarters in Bolzano, NOA (Network of Architecture) orchestrates a space that moves like a story with each area unfolding into the next.
Spanning nearly 850-square-metres, the interior layout is linear yet unrestricted, balancing structured geometry with a sense of organic flow. Modular design, inspired by ADDITIVE’s customizable software, appears to float—sometimes tethered to walls, sometimes extending into ceilings, creating an architectural rhythm that guides movement without confinement. With zero rigidity in movement, employees navigate between restive zones, bright collaborative areas, and intimate nooks, selecting their ideal space based on mood and task.
The design harnesses colour, texture, and material to shape emotion and functionality. Inspired by the firm’s brand identity, NOA crafts an environment dominated by deep blue—a colour choice that instils a sense of focus and stability. Beige tones provide contrast, softening the palette and adding warmth. Perforated metal and structured glass create layers of transparency and depth, while ceramic tiles, arranged like digital bits, reinforce the company’s technological DNA. Light plays a pivotal role—individual lamps at each workstation while LED strips embedded in pathways subtly turn illumination into a language of progress.
At the heart of the design is a communal space, an open corridor of connectivity stretching from east to west. Here, contrasts define experience: one side bathes in warmth, with a sunlit indoor garden, wooden floors, and lightbulbs strung like floating constellations. The other side embraces a darker, cosier ambience—structured seating, and intimate lighting, ideal for brainstorming and deep focus. At the entrance, a striking locker wall—bold in form and playful in composition—sets the tone for exploration, nudging employees to step beyond routine and embrace a workspace that values curiosity over conformity.
ADDITIVE’s new headquarters stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design to inspire, connect, and transform. It thrives in the dialogue between light and shadow, solitude and collaboration, offering a space where innovation and well-being flourish in the digital age.
