Dear IAnDians,
A connectedness to one’s roots; an urge to establish that says “This is I”; an identity that is unique and stands apart in the milieu. Establishing one’s position or status quo in the societal makeup of urbanity – whether a place or a person – is akin to a scientific, methodological approach. In our cover story that details communication designer (among other things) Ippolito Fleitz Group’s brand and identity exercise for the restaurant White Monkey in Stuttgart, we detail the development of the brand as ideologies and pragmatics combine in an uber chic hospitality outlet that responds on a personal level. Crafting this identity beyond the physical realm is our story about the micro-library program of Indonesia, where design empowers knowledge-sharing, and the goal of an educated society is worked upon with diligence and care. Climatically-sensitive architecture, theme-design and more, await your attention as the other offerings of the week. That design has a social responsibility is innate to all that is designed! Taking this further, stay tuned in to more from us next week. For now, enjoy the issue. It’s packed with nuggets of take-home wisdom. Warmly, |
