Balancing Heritage, Structure, and Contemporary Living in the Renovation of a Historic Villa | OFIS

In Ljubljana’s Mirje district, OFIS designs a historic villa that evolves into a contemporary residence while retaining layered memory. Renovating an early 20th-century bourgeois villa within Ljubljana’s historically charged Mirje district means engaging with continuity and change in equal measure. Situated near Plečnik’s celebrated Roman Wall, the house carries traces of Central European bourgeois living, later fragmented by pragmatic post-war conversions.
