Sharran Architecture + Design transforms three individual shops into a pulsating workspace centred around material, structure, and form.

Set within a busy commercial complex in Surat, the 1200-square-foot office belongs to an engineer whose work revolves around bridges and infrastructure. With an approach that premeditates a spatial reflection of the client’s profession, the design narrative focuses on an honest yet sophisticated vocabulary that is bespoke, raw, functional, reflecting the ethos of the practice.minimalist surat office designed by sharran architecture plus designlarge entrance door announces the company ethos at surat office designed by sharran architecture plus designExposed RCC walls dominate the interiors as intentional architectural features. Raw textures, formwork imprints, and muted grey tones shape a timeless and robust aesthetic. Metal plates form workstation and conference tabletops, supported by steel rod legs. The rods are carefully detailed to create joinery inspired by construction techniques, reinforcing the project’s raw and construction-oriented design language.glass partitions evoke seamlessness at surat office designed by sharran architecture plus designraw ambience of exposed concrete softened by warmth of wood at surat office designed by sharran architecture plus designSoftening the intensity of concrete and metal, warm wooden elements appear in furniture, storage units, and door details. This brings a sense of tactility and warmth, enhancing the industrial palette throughout the space. The ceiling remains largely open to maintain the raw character of the interiors, except where it accommodates one-way cassette air-conditioning units. Surface-mounted and hanging light fixtures further highlight the raw concrete texture.
Transparent glass partitions organise the office into different zones, maintaining visual connectivity – a key mandate from the client, who wanted to remain connected with the team and daily operations. Planning ensures efficient use of space. The reception, waiting area, cabins, staff workspace, conference room, and pantry, facilitate seamless everyday operations.metal plates used as table tops at surat office designed by sharran architecture plus designsteel rods precision developed as suspenders for tables at surat office designed by sharran architecture plus designThe workspace reads as grounded and quietly expressive.
