Upstairs Design Associates negotiates between modern living and inherited memory in Surat’s dense residential context. Designed for a three-generation family, the 1,500 square foot apartment translates lineage into spatiality, working with tactility rather than volume. The project’s challenge lay in reconciling multi-generational needs within a compact footprint while responding to Surat’s humid climate.
