Twisted Brick Shell Concept Library | HCCH Studio

In an attempt to explore the possibility of the fusion between contemporary formal expression and vernacular material culture, HCCH Studio crafts a twisted brick shell concept library in rural Zhejiang, China. Ensconced in a high-grass field, the built form follows a spiral shell shape approximately 10-metres in diameter and 5-metres high. The continuous surface is generated by two semicircles sweeping from one to the other, blurring interior and exterior. The shell is made of red bricks, not by masonry, but by casting in-situ.
