‘Proud to be Indian’ is a slogan that is felt from the core of one’s being. Pride in all that we have achieved and continue to strive for as we edge towards a century of being a free nation. The last week, as we were all amidst a refreshed glory of patriotism, and celebrated the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, we realised how masterly our design community is. How well and how sensitively, we adapt and mould, flex and reinvent, merge, and celebrate the old with the new!

Whilst we bring you a cover story that follows the aforesaid dictum with a century-old stone Wada in Latur restored and refurbished by Mooltatva Design Studio, we also celebrate paths of progressive design with the retail outlet in Barcelona conceptualised and designed by Masquespacio. In Indonesia, Studio Seniman Ruang creates a romantic ambience in a rooftop diner and bar in Bandung City, marrying the timeless appeal of earthy materiality with the trendiness of alfresco dining. And in Mumbai, Open Atelier uses a calculated overlay of design styles to infuse a home with bespoke individuality and piquant style.
