In Champawat, Uttarakhand, this handicraft centre is conceived as civic infrastructure, extending beyond a marketplace to support public life. In many small Himalayan towns, unplanned growth has weakened local economies and reduced access to public space. Champawat reflects this condition, where migration and declining craft livelihoods have altered everyday social life.
