The DXA Show 2024

blurring boundaries
A Design and Art Show with an ‘X’ Factor!

Join the Eccentric Conversations Design Challenge!

Inviting designers of all disciplines, who wish to further their brand-building exercise and promote their thinking capabilities to a focused audience via an exhibition that uses black humour to blur the boundaries between art and design.

Theme: The Dining Room

If you are a designer, who has a dynamic sense of design and a penchant for the out-of-box to convey your design thought, fill the form below.

Unleash your creativity by transforming ordinary dining room objects into whimsical, conversational masterpieces!

We invite designers to reimagine dining chairs, tables, cutlery, drapery, tablecloths, crockery, consoles, lights, apparel, and more… into unique, quirky works of art. Imagine chairs engaging in playful banter, tables telling tales, or wall clocks breaking the fourth dimension. Let your imagination run wild!

Embrace the unexpected as you craft works of art that spark conversation and redefine the boundaries of design. From surreal settings to avant-garde installations, we encourage you to push the limits of what’s possible.

This challenge celebrates the fusion of non-functionality and eccentricity. Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your talent, challenge norms, and let your designs speak volumes in the language of the extraordinary!

Only 10 designers will be finally shortlisted as Exhibitors.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an exhibition opportunity and NOT a competition or award-wining particicpation.

Each participant will create a product/ work of art related to the dining room – the twist being that it should be a non-functional, conversational, “non-usable collectable”!

Elaborating on “non-usable collectable”:
Primarily a “product” which would have artistic appeal – may be in form of a sculpture, wall hanging, a floor graphic…

Each participating designer could attract a different Target Group

  1. Category: Furniture – It could be chair with three legs up and 1 down
  2. Category: Ceramics – A teapot with a knot at the end of the spout
  3. Category: Cutlery – A spoon with a flexible neck
  4. Category: Fashion – A dress most inappropriate for dining
  5. Category: Lighting – A table lamp that creates a shadow on the table

The product/ work of art thatyou create can be in any of the forms listed below:
